With weekend newspaper readership up 29% year-on-year*
Nielsen’s latest CMI results, released today, confirm New Zealanders continue to have a strong relationship with newspapers, and this love of print has grown throughout 2020. Nearly 1.6 million New Zealanders are getting their news and information from their favourite weekend edition – this includes Metropolitan/Regional Saturday editions and Sunday newspapers.
The good news for newspapers doesn’t stop there with daily newspapers readership up 14% in the past year too. Daily newspaper readership reaches nearly 2.1 million New Zealanders each week based on daily newspaper weekly coverage.
Kiwis are more engaged with newspapers than ever before, spending an average of more than 3.5 hours (215mins) a week reading newspapers. This has increased by 1hr 12minutes (72mins) compared to a year ago, and by more than half an hour (32mins) from last period.
